FEBRUALIA!

I have learned that February is named after Februalia, the Roman festival of purification.  According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, and Etymology Dictionary February is the last month of the ancient (Pre – 450 B.C.E.) Roman calendar, and the second month of the Gregorian calendar.

February ended a few days ago and I noticed that I have traveled during the whole month, on a full circle route, having no idea that I am actually on a journey of purification.

***

(1) I started with an intense clearing of emotions while attending an appeal hearing in Los Angeles, CA on February the 7th.

(2) I had a lunch gathering with my soul friends in Los Angeles, CA on February the 18th where Mahrokh inspired us by sharing the following excerpts from the book – Something More by Sara Ban Breathnach:

"People are either resigned and live in quiet desperation,or are exhausted and exist in restless agitation.

The resigned believe that everything is out of our control.  The restless sense that there’s got to be Something More to why we are here.

I wish I’d known that I’d been born to take on the world; I wouldn't have run from it for so long, but run to it with open arms.

Flash forward nearly five decades later, the steely stubbornness has become spiritual moxie; all tension is gone; the burden of the assignments my soul chose to tackle in this life time has been lifted; I have learned my lessons well”.

(3) I attended a retreat in Baton Rouge, LA where we learned about identifying and acknowledging our emotional boulders, and healing and dissolving them in order to improve and facilitate the flow of energy in our bodies.  Our coach was Jeff who had come there all the way from New York and he was great.

(4) I also spent time with my son Brad who has always been an inspiration and support in my awareness journey.  His cat Strudel is a delight and we had a lot of fun hanging out with her.

(5) Full Circle

On March the 7th. I left Baton Rouge, Louisiana for Phoenix, Arizona where my daughter Lily lives.  I started my journey in Phoenix and closed the circle by returning there.

Lily is the joy of the family and is the hero of her life.  She experienced the pain of separation from the family, friends, and country at a very young age, nevertheless, she has remained grounded at all times.  She takes care of a dog and two cats, and she is busy with her job and her volunteer work.

I loved my Februalia journey!

  1. I enjoyed reading this post. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I like journeys that take us full circle...sometimes I think it leads us back to where we are meant to be. I myself have experienced the "full circle" in my journey to find a career and find my place in the world. I began my career in fine arts and graphic design, moved to being a graphic designer and then moved on to realm of computers and technology and finally came back full circle and now work for Herberger Institute for the Design and the Arts which combine all my previous work experience into my dream job.

I also started my education here, left to go back to my home country (Malaysia) and came back to Arizona and continue to remain here. Another full circle. I began working on Tempe campus, left to work in downtown Phoenix, then worked at an architect firm and finally wound up back on Tempe Campus. Full Circle. Maybe the universe has a plan for where I am supposed to be, and it lets me venture off from time to time, exploring different options but it brings me back to where I am supposed to be. Full circles are a good thing.

Lily brings joy to many of our lives and she just exudes beauty and happiness. She takes care of everyone in her life and gives 120% to everyone...even strangers. She is YOUR most beautiful creation and you should be proud of her. Lily is lucky to have you in her life and vice versa. I am biased but I am allowed to be because I have known her for 20 plus years.

    2. Right? I have many more examples of full circles but it happens a lot in my life. I think it happens a lot to me is because I am like a leaf on a river....I let the current take me where ever it wants to take me. Sometimes, I get stuck on the river bank...but then I am back in the flow of things again.

I am definitely the "resigned" personality (but definitely do not live in quiet desperation) and feel that everything in my life has already been predetermined. So I am never dissatisfied with my life because I think it is where I am supposed to be. I don't have much ambition as a result also because I believe that I get everything that is coming to me. But your articles are very thought provoking and makes me evaluate my life. Thanks again for posting.
